The German Armed Forces Operations Medal is issued with
numerous distinctive bars This 34mm bronze medal has an unusually narrow
suspension ribbon of 28mm. The well-designed planchet features a German eagle
on the obverse and a blank reverse. Each bar measures 20mm in width. On January
28, 2003, the German Army authorized the issuance of the Operations Medal in
gold (690 days of accumulated service) and silver (360 days of accumulated
service) finishes. It also authorized the issue of the medal to foreign troops.
